Food, glorious food!!

Since completing the LightenUp program one of the things that’s become very important to me is the food I eat and where it comes from.  In the past, I was simply focused on eating and didn’t take much notice of what or how much!  Now, it’s a very important part of my overall health and wellbeing.

I am fortunate enough to have space in my garden and access to excellent, free gardening advice, so armed with this I planned and constructed my own vegetable and herb garden.  It was enormously satisfying and I’m proud of myself for completing it.  I’ve nearly finished planting everything I want and I’m excited to see the first shoots poke through the soil.  I now know exactly where my vegetables are coming from and between family and friends, a big part of my food groups are covered.

 

Even without a lot of space or time, home-grown veges and herbs can still be very achievable.  A pot of basil and a tomato plant at the back door is a great addition.  What’s your favourite vegetable or herb?  Can it be easily grown in a pot?  If so, plant one!  It’s a wonderfully satisfying and healthy thing to do. 

 

Remember, one small change at a time, amounts to great, long-term benefits.

We are very excited this month to profile one of our very special customers!  JP has been working through the LightenUp program for the last few months and has had some wonderful results.  We recently interviewed her and here's her response:

1.  What prompted you to purchase a LightenUp membership?

I was drawn to LightenUp for its holistic approach to overall well-being.  I also like that I can progress through the program at my own pace; I didn't feel pressured at any stage and knew that I could receive great support whenever  I needed it.

2.  What has been the most rewarding element of LightenUp for you so far?

LIghtenUp has given me greater self-awareness, the ability to think more positively and to choose my response to situations.

What has been the most significant change or insight that you have experienced through LightenUp?

I realised that whilst I had all the skills and knowledge I needed, without a change of focus, I was never going to achieve my goals.  LightenUp has shown me what's been holding me back and helped me work out the change in attitude that I needed to make to get to where I want to be.

Would you recommend LightenUp membership to others?  Why or why not?

I'd definitely recommend LightenUp to anyone wanting to break the cycle of their old patterns and better understand the motivation behind their decisions - both the negative and positive ones.


5.      
Give us an example of how your mindset has changed since doing LightenUp.  This may be a situation that you experienced before and after where your response or outlook is completely different.

I've previously had a "love-hate" relationship with exercise and it's been something that I've felt I had to do, rather than wanted to do.  Through the LightenUp program I've realised that the true benefit of exercise for me is what it does for me mentally.  It improves my concentration, helps me manage stress and makes for a better night's sleep.  Focusing on these aspects of exercise, rather than the physical side of it has given me a really positive attitude and new approach to exercise.

What’s News…?

We have been busy this month filming the video tutorials that accompany the LightenUp workbook.  Our members will soon be able to access these from the Members Only area.  It’s been fun to do and we know will help those of you who may be needing that little bit of extra support as you work through the program.
